While the Viet Cong were equipped with relatively crude equipment, it was simple and reliable, and the epitome of this is the Kalashnikov rifle. The AK has been used since 1949 from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe, and continues to be produced today; there is no single thing on this planet which has seen a similar longevity.
